Marriage is a Covenant with God

“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

Marriage is the foundation of a Christian society. It is a covenant between two people and God.  It is a lifelong partnership of mutual and exclusive fidelity, established by mutual consent between a man and a woman, and ordered towards the good of the spouses and the procreation of children.

"It is through the grace of Christ that enables men and women to overcome their mutual conflict and live together in marriage in the exercise of “mutual submission out of reverence for Christ” (cf. Ephesians 5:21; Mulieris Dignitatem, no. 24). This transforming grace enables the body in its maleness and femaleness to be offered as the expression of the 'sincere gift of self' " J. Grabowski "For Your Marriage" Theology of the Body.

Pete and Lucia cooperated with God's will in total self-giving by being dependent on the Sacraments, prayer, and total devotion to each other.

They accepted their daily bread with humility, never wasting, never taking anything for granted, working hard for their wages.  They lived the Gospel Truth, sharing what they could with others.

They lived by the Laws of God and instilled them into their children.

Fatima - A Call to Holiness

"...the purpose was to allude to a critical point, a critical moment in history, by which I mean the whole power of evil that came to a head in the major dictatorships of this twentieth century - and that in another way is still at work today.
...the answer does not consist in great political actions, but, when all is said and done, it can only come from the transformation of the heart - through faith, hope, love and penance.
...Even now there is tribulation.  Even now, in every conceivable form, power threatens to trample down faith.  Even now, then, there is need for the answer about which the Mother of God spoke to the children.
Pope Benedict XVI "Light of the World" Ignatius, 2010.
