Marriage is a Covenant with God
“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
Marriage is the foundation of a Christian society. It is a covenant between two people and God. It is a lifelong partnership of mutual and exclusive fidelity, established by mutual consent between a man and a woman, and ordered towards the good of the spouses and the procreation of children.
"It is through the grace of Christ that enables men and women to overcome their mutual conflict and live together in marriage in the exercise of “mutual submission out of reverence for Christ” (cf. Ephesians 5:21; Mulieris Dignitatem, no. 24). This transforming grace enables the body in its maleness and femaleness to be offered as the expression of the 'sincere gift of self' " J. Grabowski "For Your Marriage" Theology of the Body.
Pete and Lucia cooperated with God's will in total self-giving by being dependent on prayer, sacrifice, hard work and the wisdom God asked for and provided day by day.
All of our society depends upon the basic good roots of family. It all comes from them. The formation of human beings begins there. So marriages matter. The family should be affirmed and supported by every branch of society if they hope for strong future generations.

Pete and Lucy accepted their daily bread placing the yeast of God in it to make it good and lasting. They lived and experienced in reality the way of divine life of God through Jesus Christ, this is how their legacy of love and faithfulness has been passed on to future generations.
